£2.65 for almost a pint of Double Hop

That sounds like a fair comment but the emphasis is certainly on food as you say. It is reasonable food too.

While the Arden Arms does have an emphasis on food, particularly at lunchtimes, i have never been made unwelcome if just wanting to pop in for a pint.
Indeed it is a good example of how good food can be combined with a real pub.

This is really a pub for eating and not for supping

The Arden is not too bad on child-friendliness but it pretends to be a restaurant and I have been asked if I mind moving on more than one occasion. I do not fancy sitting outside just because I don’t want to order food. So I’ll give that place a miss.

Not just another Robinson public house - There is usually double hop on draught. The food is pricey but of high quality. However, do not be surprised to be asked to move from your seat if you are not dining. The emphasis of this public house is food, not beer drinking customers. Oh, it is also rather gay friendly.

One factor that many other pubguides do not consider is the area where a pub is based. This can be of the utmost importance. Therefore, we have taken the opportunity to interpret the latest Indices of Deprivation, issued in December 2007. As this public house is located in Brinnington and Central ward, we inform you that an overall interpretation of the statistics for this area is that the ward appears to be exceptionally defective. This evaluation may be broken down as follows: The employment situation might be exceptionally deprived. Health is exceptionally impaired. The educational stance is exceptionally needing. Moreover, the environment itself is outstandingly wanting. Housing seems to be fairly good. One might interpret the situation on reported crime as exceptionally meagre. Meanwhile, income appears to be exceptionally absent. On another note, the postal area is very residential.
